One of the major pre-event challenge is the money factor. But what if there was a way to throw a really great party/event with the right ambience within a reasonable budget. The beautiful thing about decoration is that it isn’t about the resources but creativity instead. With the right planning you can pull off even a celebrity style event or at least you can try…
How do you pull this off?
1. Make good use of your space: It is cheaper and better to choose an event space that is attractive on its own then you can add the extra touches that would bring the “wow” effect. If you want to make a space more welcoming and cozy, this is where you employ the use of fabrics. Fabrics help to absorb noise. You could drape fabric along the buffet and serving areas. You could also mix tables of varying shapes, then put linen on some of the tables and leave others bare except for candles.
2. Flowers: Create a scene in the room by placing three or four huge vases of flowers—real or silk—off center. If flowers are too expensive, you can always get Fruits, vegetables or nuts as they can portray a cheerful scenery and cost less…and yes! You get to eat them or donate them to charity afterwards. Either way, you’d still feel good. Display produce in baskets or apothecary jars; tie it with raffia; wire it to grapevine wreaths or just group it together on a bed of dried straw.
3. Drape the ceiling: Draping multicolored or a single colored fabric or banners from the center of the ceiling to the corners. This gives your space a festive look without much effort or cost.
4. Cakes: This desert can also be a decoration. Being creative with the cake’s design is all you need here. A good looking cakes doesn’t only build guest anticipation, it brings excitement to your party.
Wanting a great decoration that wouldn’t cost so much doesn’t mean that you skimp on quality. Spend big on at least one thing and let the rest go. This one thing should be highlighted in your decoration as it is what you’d want your guest to focus on – The “Wow” effect. It is what everyone gets to comment about.
Remember in decoration, anything can be left out. Style is all that matters.
